This is the correct answer. I have the same hubs, and some time ago I experienced the same problem - freehub not spinning freely. It turns out that although the spacer was still in place, it had worn sufficiently to prevent the freehub from functioning normally. I replaced the spacer and it solved the problem.

This hub on my new bike doesn't spin freely. It's a vuelta front wheel hub. I pulled it off the bike and when I hold either side and spin it there is a distinct spot where it binds. When it's mounted and I spin it, it's a constant friction not allowing more than a couple of full revolutions.
